BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard and local partner agencies responded to a boat crash involving 3 mariners in Whitehall Creek in Annapolis on Sunday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Maryland-National Capital Region received a report from Anne Arundel County Fire dispatch at approximately 10:45 p.m. stating a woman was standing in her back yard and heard people screaming for help in the nearby creek.

The initial report stated that one boater was missing and two others had injuries.

Sector Maryland-NCR issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast and launched a 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew from Coast Guard Station Annapolis to respond. Crews from Anne Arundel County Fire, Maryland Natural Resources Police and Maryland State Police also launched.

Once on scene, the RB-S crew saw an unconscious male on a jetty but could not get to him due to shallow water. Two RB-S crewmembers boarded a good Samaritan’s boat with shallow water capability and climbed out to the unconscious male to begin rendering first aid.

The unconscious male was medevaced to Baltimore Shock Trauma by Maryland State Police.

The two other injured boaters were met by awaiting emergency medical personnel at a nearby residential pier.
