STAMFORD, Conn. –The Red Cross honored 1st Coast Guard District members during the 17th annual Red Cross Connecticut Heroes Breakfast in Stamford, Connecticut, today. 

Red Cross Heroes Breakfasts are signature community events recognizing everyday men, women, and youths who have undertaken extraordinary acts of kindness and courage to prevent and alleviate human suffering, exemplifying the true spirit of the American Red Cross. 

This year the American Red Cross selected 15 Coast Guardsmen for recognition as Connecticut Military Heroes for their role in the rescue of two men aboard the recreational vessel Blue Eyes on Nov. 13, 2015, in Fishers Island Sound on the eastern end of the Long Island Sound.
