BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard continues to investigate a boat crash that killed a 7-year-old Sunday and injured three others during the Thunder on the Narrows race off Kent Island.Deceased is Julianne Rosela, 7, of Chester, who was transported to Queen Anne's Medical CenterInjured were:

Robbie Root, 35, of Chester, medevaced by helicopter to University of Maryland Shock Trauma CenterJennifer Browning, 34, of Stevensville, medevaced by helicopter to University of Maryland Shock Trauma CenterMichelle Thomas, 40, of Chester, medevaced by local EMS to Anne Arundel County Medical Center

Coast Guard Sector Baltimore watch standers received a call at approximately 5:30 p.m. Sunday stating a 21-foot race boat struck onlookers who were viewing the event on spectator boats.During the race, one of the racing boats, This Is Heaven driven by Philip Justus Mitchell, collided with three spectator boats that were rafted together with a larger group of 12 boats.Event sponsors pulled individuals from the water following the incident. Two individuals were medevaced by helicopter, and another individual was medevaced by land.Maryland Natural Resources Police were on scene and responded as well as assets from the Coast Guard Auxiliary.Two Coast Guard members were aboard MNRP assets as part of on-going, joint boarding teams efforts.The incident is currently under investigation by the U.S. Coast Guard and MNRP.
