UPDATE 8: Coast Guard continues Baton Rouge flood response

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard rescued an additional 14 people and assisted other agencies in rescuing another 435 in distress due to flooding in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana, area Sunday night.

Coast Guard assets involved in search and rescue operations Monday include:

- Two MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrews from Air Station New Orleans- Two MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrews from Aviation Training Center Mobile, Alabama,- One 16-foot boat from Aids to Navigation Team New Orleans - Six small flat-bottomed boats from the Western Rivers Flood Punt team from Coast Guard Sector Lower Mississippi, Memphis, Tennessee

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans continues to coordinate and assist the Baton Rouge Police Department, Baton Rouge Fire Department, Louisiana State Police, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Governor's Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management, and the Louisiana National Guard.

Coast Guard crews to date have rescued a total of more than 192 people and assisted a total of more than 2,882 people in distress.
