CLEVELAND — The Coast Guard has established temporary security zones and safety zones for navigable waters within the Cleveland Harbor and Cuyahoga River during the 2016 Republican National Convention from July 15, 2016 through July 23, 2016.
Coast Guard crews will be enforcing safety and security zones at earlier times than initially published for two of the established temporary security zones.
The North Coast Harbor Marina will close to all marine vessels at 9:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 16. All vessels, crew, and passengers must depart the marina prior to this time. The marina will re-open to vessels at 6:00 a.m., on Monday, July 18.
Due to changes in convention activity, Zone 4 will now be in effect at the following times:
July 18 – 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.
July 19 - 2:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
July 20 - 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.
July 21 – 4:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
At this time there is no plan for zones 1 or 3 to be in effect from July 15 – 21, but this is subject to change.
The Coast Guard is continuously working with our maritime partners to ensure on-water safety and security for visitors and residents through increased presence. The safety and security of the maritime community is the Coast Guard’s top priority during this event.
Public notice of the restrictions will be made via marine radio over VHF-FM channel 16. Vessel operators should take this into consideration for planned vessel activities.
