UPDATE: Coast Guard suspends search for owner of green kayak

HONOLULU – The Coast Guard has suspended the search for the owner of a green kayak.

Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu Command Center received a report about 8:10 a.m., today from the tour boat Anini indicating they had located and recover an unmanned adrift green kayak one mile north of Lumahai Beach, Kauai.

The Coast Guard has issued urgent marine information broadcast each hour since the kayak was located, Coast Guard Station Kauai verified with all the local tour companies and none of them own green kayaks and there are no correlating reports of missing persons or distress.

An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter  crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point was launched and searched the area.
