BRUNSWICK, Ga. — A second person has been found deceased in the Brunswick River Thursday morning as the search for one missing boater continues.
The body of the deceased man was located by a Georgia Department of Natural Resources search crew at approximately 7:30 a.m. near the Sidney Lanier Bridge.
Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Charleston command center received the initial report at approximately 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, from Georgia DNR stating that a boat carrying four men had capsized in the Brunswick River near the Sidney Lanier Bridge.
One man was found unresponsive in the water near shore by a Georgia DNR crew and was confirmed deceased by local EMS Wednesday night.
A second man was rescued by a Georgia DNR crew Wednesday night. The survivor was found wearing a lifejacket and was treated at the scene by local EMS.
Coast Guard crews are searching for the remaining missing man aboard the following assets:
- a 29-foot Response Boat — Small from Station Brunswick
- a 45-foot Response Boat — Medium from Station Brunswick
- an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Savannah
Members of Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the Coast Guard Auxiliary are also assisting in the search.
