ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 28-year-old man Saturday from a container ship 20 miles east of Virginia Beach, Virginia.Sector Hampton Roads watchstanders received a report at 10:20 a.m. that a man aboard the Maersk Santana container ship suffered burns on his arms and legs.At 11:16 a.m., a helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City launched to medevac the injured man. The helicopter crew arrived on scene at 11:39 a.m. and transferred the man to the helicopter.The helicopter crew arrived at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk at 12:26 p.m where the man was transferred to awaiting EMS personnel.
The patient was last reported in stable condition.
