ALAMEDA, Calif. — A Coast Guard aircrew from Air Station San Francisco airlifted the master of the motor vessel Midland Sky, after he appeared to suffer symptoms of a stroke approximately 260 miles northwest of Point Arena Wednesday morning.
The crew of the 738-foot Midland Sky contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Francisco to request a medevac of the master who appeared to have symptoms of a stroke. A duty Flight Surgeon concurred the master having symptoms of a stroke and should be medically evacuated, but since the master started experiencing symptoms approximately six hours earlier, that the medevac was not urgent.
Wednesday evening, the Midland Sky was about 45 miles west of San Francisco. The Air Station San Francisco aircrew was launched, and the master was hoisted safely from the vessel.
The master was transferred to Kaiser Air at Oakland International Airport in stable condition.
