SAN DIEGO — The Coast Guard medically evacuated an 24-year-old woman from a cruise ship approximately 50 miles southwest of Point Loma Saturday.
At approximately 10 a.m. Saturday, watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Diego received a call from the crew of the cruise ship Carnival Imagination that a 24-year-old female passenger was experiencing signs of acute appendicitis.
Sector San Diego's flight surgeon recommended that the patient be medically evacuated and taken to a hospital for emergency care.... [Read More]

HONOLULU — A 46-year-old man is receiving treatment in Oahu after being medevaced from Midway Atoll, Saturday.
The HC-130 Hercules airplane crew flew more than 1,300 miles from Oahu to Midway to complete the medieval of the injured crewmember.

WALDPORT, Ore. — A Coast Guard aircrew rescued a swimmer who was reportedly showing signs of hypothermia in Alsea Bay near Waldport, Friday evening.
An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Facility Newport hoisted the man at 7:38 p.m. and transported him to Newport Hospital for medical treatment.

The 2015 United Nations East River security zones scheduled to take place from Sep. 25 to Oct. 4, 2015.
NEW YORK -- Coast Guard crewmembers are scheduled to enforce security zones on the East River near the United Nations Headquarters beginning Friday.
The security zones scheduled to begin Sept. 25 and end Oct. 4, 2015, include all waters of the East River between East 35th Street and the Queensboro/59th Street Bridge.

JUNEAU, Alaska — Alaska's Department of Environmental Conservation and Department of Natural Resources joined Coast Guard Sector Juneau personnel in responding to the tugboat, Challenger, which sank in Juneau's Gastineau channel Sept. 12, 2015.
Global Diving & Salvage and Southeast Alaska Lighterage ( SEAL ) were contracted and have removed all accessible pollution sources and hazards from the vessel. SEAL replaced the boom around the vessel today. The Coast Guard and DEC will continue monitoring for any further oil seepage and environmental impacts. ... [Read More]

BOSTON — The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Escanaba returned to their homeport Tuesday following a two-month patrol in the waters off New England.
During the 9,100 nautical mile patrol to enforce fisheries laws, the crew conducted 103 boardings, resulting in 14 violations, assisted the crews aboard four disabled fishing vessels, conducted three gun shoots, refueling at sea, and numerous damage control drills.... [Read More]
