UPDATE: Coast Guard responds to reported sunken vessel in Sandy Hook Channel

NEW YORK - Coast Guard crews are assisting local agencies in the search for a reported sunken vessel in Sandy Hook Channel, Tuesday. New Jersey State Police crews found debris believed to be from the vessel that sank.

An NYPD dive team is using their side scan sonar to attempt to locate the vessel, a 40-foot fishing trawler identified as El Jefe. New Jersey State Police Department retained lead agency on the case.
