NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard rescued a 67-year-old male and a 50-year-old male approximately 37 miles southeast of St. George Island, Florida, Saturday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile received the report at 4:55 p.m. from a 42-foot pleasure craft that they were taking on water.
Involved in the search was:
- Coast Guard Station Panama City 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew
- Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew
- Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry crew
- Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission
The Air Station Clearwater helicopter crew hoisted the two people before their vessel sank and took them to Air Station Clearwater where they were met by Emergency Medical services.
