MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Three boaters aboard a damaged 45-foot boat were rescued by a Coast Guard aircrew approximately 11 miles east of Myrtle Beach, Friday. 

Watchstanders in the Coast Guard Sector Charleston command center received a distress call from the boaters aboard the vessel Tommy Girl via VHF marine radio at 9:45 a.m. The boaters reported the bow of their vessel was damaged and that the boat was taking on water. They also reported one of the people aboard suffered a leg injury and was experiencing breathing difficulties.

Crews from Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston, Coast Guard Station Georgetown and Horry County Fire and Rescue marine unit were launched to respond. 

The survivors were taken to Myrtle Beach International Airport and were transferred to EMS for further evaluation.
