CGA Ranked One Of The Top Colleges In The Nation

September 14, 2015

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The U.S. Coast Guard Academy has again been named one of the best institutions of higher learning in the U.S.

According to the 2016 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges publication, CGA holds the No. 1 spot in the “Regional Colleges North” category, the second consecutive year the institution has topped that list. The Academy also holds the No. 15 spot in the “Best in Undergraduate Engineering Programs” category in the publication, known as one of the oldest and best-known rankings of academic institutions in the nation.

The Princeton Review included the Academy in “The Best 378 Colleges,” its annual guide to higher learning. The publication, which only includes about 15 percent of the nation’s four-year schools on its list, does not rank order institutions and has included CGA in its “Stone Cold Sober Schools” list for many years.

The Academy was included in the “America’s Top Colleges” list from Forbes magazine. The publication rates schools on a return on investment scale, with points for high graduation rates, student satisfaction and career success. CGA ranked No. 6 on the Forbes “Best College” list, and was included on the top 25 Best Public Colleges list.

As one of the smallest of the five federal service academies, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy offers a quality higher education experience that emphasizes leadership, physical fitness and professional development. Cadets here devote themselves to an honor concept and go directly into positions of leadership in service.
