CLEVELAND — Coast Guard pollution responders are investigating a potential spill of an unknown substance in Lake Erie at the Forest City Yacht Club Friday.
Contractors from Clean Harbors are currently on scene to investigate and, if needed, conduct clean-up operations.
Shortly before noon, Marine Safety Unit Cleveland pollution responders received a report from Forest City Yacht Club of an unknown substance in the yacht club basin.
The substance is covering an area of roughly 50 by 100 yards inside the yacht club basin. MSU Cleveland responders are working to determine the source of the substance.
Attempts Friday afternoon to gain an aerial view of the area were unsuccessful due to weather conditions.
The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.
