Coast Guard assists man and woman aboard disabled skiff near Kill Devil Hills, N.C.

OREGON INLET, N.C. — The Coast Guard towed a boat Thursday with two people aboard within Colington Harbour.

Watchstanders at Sector North Carolina received a report at 2:35 p.m. that a 16-foot skiff was disabled with a man and woman aboard.

A 24-foot Special Purpose Craft-Shallow Water crew from Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet launched at 3:05 p.m. and arrived on scene at 4:04 p.m. The boat crew took the skiff in tow and returned it to Colington Harbour at 5:11 p.m. 

No injuries or pollution were reported.

"We were glad the crew from Station Oregon Inlet were able to assist in getting the two boaters back safely," said Chief Petty Officer Seth Haynes, command duty officer at Sector North Carolina. "The Coast Guard always encourages boater safety and familiarity with the waters you are operating in. "
