Coast Guard to kick-off boating season in Southeastern New England with numerous safety events

May 12, 2016

BOSTON — The Coast Guard is scheduled to host multiple safe boating events in Southeastern New England as part of National Safe Boating Week, which runs from May 21-27.

Free vessel safety checks offered throughout the week by the Coast Guard Auxiliary ensure boats fully comply with all Federal and State boating safety laws and can help owners identify discrepancies with their safety gear. Citations are not issued during these courtesy safety checks; they are designed to educate and save lives.

A precursor to the busy summer boating season, National Safe Boating Week promotes safe and responsible recreation at sea.
