NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard has lifted the safety zone on the Ohio River near Louisville, Kentucky, Sunday.
A Coast Guard Sector Ohio Valley 25-foot Response Boat – Small crew assisted local rescue crews in search efforts for the missing three boaters for more than six hours.
Watchstanders with Coast Guard Sector Ohio Valley received a radio call late Saturday evening reporting people in the water from the capsized boat near downtown Louisville. The boat became wedged under a work barge near the I-64 Bridge downtown, initially resulting in nine people in the water.
The Coast Guard will be assisting the local response agencies in the investigation in the cause of the incident.
