BAY ST. LOUIS, MISS. — The Coast Guard medevaced a man six miles south of Bay St. Louis, Saturday.
A man in a 24-ft. sailing vessel made a distress call on VHF Ch. 16 stating that he was reportedly suffering from abdominal pain.
An Aviation Training Center Mobile, Al., HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed wing aircraft returning from a flight heard the distress call and directed an Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter, that was in the area conducting training, to the man’s location.
The helicopter rescue crew hoisted the man aboard at approximately 12 p.m. The crew transported him to LSU Medical Center.
A Coast Guard Station Gulfport 45-ft. Response Boat Medium, as well as a Mississippi Marine Police rescue boat also responded to the incident.
The patient was in reportedly stable conditon.
