NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 68-year-old man from a cruise ship 180 miles off of Southwest Pass, La., Sunday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard District 8 received a call requesting a medevac for a man who reportedly suffered a seizure. Watchstanders directed the launch of an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans and an HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew from Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi.
The helicopter crew lifted the man and a nurse and transported him to West Jefferson Medical Center in stable condition.
