BALTIMORE — Coast Guard and partner agencies are searching Tuesday for a missing boater in the vicinity of Fort Howard Park, near Sparrows Point.
Missing is Jon W. Conrad III, described as 6 feet 2 inches tall, 280 pounds, with curly, dirty-blonde hair.
Baltimore County Aviation contacted Coast Guard Sector Baltimore Command Center watchstanders at approximately 11:45 a.m. and reported a sailboat adrift.
Sector watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and dispatched crews aboard a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium from Coast Guard Station Curtis Bay.
The Curtis Bay crew was first on scene at approximately 12 p.m. and found the approximately 30-foot sailboat unmanned and going in circles. Two Coast Guard crewmembers boarded the vessel, took control and anchored it.
Also involved in the search are personnel from Maryland Natural Resources Police, Maryland Transportation Authority Police, Baltimore County Police and Baltimore County Fire and Dive team.
