Coast Guard Recues Two Boaters Near Port Hueneme

SAN PEDRO, Calif. - The Coast Guard rescued two boaters from the water near Point Hueneme, Calif., early Sunday morning at about 7 a.m.

The Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles- Long Beach watch standers received a call for help, reporting an overturned vessel. The two individuals were spotted in the water in close proximity to the vessel.

A MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter form Air Station Los Angeles were launched to search for the individuals.

After arriving on scene the helicopter was able to locate the partially submerged vessel and safely retrieve both individuals from the water. neither individual was wearing a life jacket when located. 

The individuals were taken to Point Mugu Air Field where EMS was able to transport them to a local hospital. Both individuals showed signs of Hypothermia.  

The Coast Guard reminds boaters of the importance of having proper safety equipment and the wearing of floatation devices. Having the proper safety equipment will assist rescue crews with locating you more expeditiously and ensuring your safety.
