PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard rescued two men Monday after their vessel became disabled approximately one mile north of Willoughby Spit in Norfolk.

Coast Guard Station Little Creek received notification at approximately 10:45 a.m. the 18-foot pleasure craft Sea Skipper, homeported out of Willoughby Spit, lost power with two men aboard.

Station Little Creek launched a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew at approximately 11 a.m. to assist. The boat crew took the disabled vessel into tow at approximately 11:06 a.m. The vessel was towed and moored at approximately 12:46 p.m. at Cobb’s Marina in Little Creek.

No injuries or pollution were reported.

"Now that boating season is ramping up, it is a good idea to double-check your boat’s batteries and fuel quality before heading out on the water,” said Petty Officer 1st Class Brent Massey, search and rescue operator at Sector Hampton Roads.
