LITTLE CREEK, Va.– The Coast Guard rescued three mariners Saturday after their boat began taking on water near Virginia Beach.
Coast Guard Station Little Creek watchstanders received a report at approximately 7:15 p.m. that a 23-foot boat was taking on water 10 miles east of Rudee Inlet.
Station Little Creek diverted a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew already underway, and it arrived on scene at approximately 7:45 p.m. TowBoat US also arrived on scene.
The Coast Guard personnel transferred the three men onto the RB-M and brought them to Owl's Creek boat ramp in Virginia Beach.
TowBoat US towed the 23-foot boat to Owl’s Creek. There were no injuries or pollution reported.
"It was not a good case, because no case is good, but it was a smooth case,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Nathan Reynolds, who was the RB-M coxswain. "Our boat manual says, ‘Train, maintain and operate,’ and that’s just what Station Little Creek does.”
