The Coast Guard rescues injured man near Grays Harbor, Wash.

WARRENTON, Ore. — The Coast Guard rescued a man who a suffered severe leg injury while on the north jetty of Grays Harbor, Washington.A Coast Guard Air Station Astoria MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew hoisted the man and brought him to the Bowerman airport in Hoquiam, Washington, where he was transferred to Airlift Northwest medical personnel for transport to Seattle for further medical care.The initial report of the injured 41-year-old man came in to personnel at Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor via 911 dispatch. The station personnel relayed the report to watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Columbia River who directed the launch of the helicopter crew.“Due to the severity of this man’s injuries it was of the upmost importance that we get him to the medical attention he needed as quick as possible,” said Chief Petty Officer Justin Urbano, command duty officer, Sector Columbia River. “Thanks to professionalism and quick response of all Coast Guard crews involved, we were able to accomplish just that.”Weather on scene at the time of the incident was reported at 16 to 24 mph winds and two miles of visibility.
