SAN FRANCISCO - Coast Guard crews and the San Joaquin Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a capsized vessel in the San Joaquin River near Stockton Deep Water Channel Monday afternoon.At approximately 1:30 p.m., Coast Guard Sector San Francisco received notification from Coast Guard Station Rio Vista of a capsized aluminum boat with two people in the water.A Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco aircrew was diverted to better ascertain the boater's location. Coast Guard Station Rio Vista and the San Joaquin Sheriff's Office Marine Unit arrived on-scene and rescued the two mariners from the water. Neither of the mariners had any reported injuries or needed further medical attention."The Coast Guard advises all mariners to carry the essential safety equipment aboard their vessel to include a VHF-FM marine radio, lifejackets, flares and to also check the weather reports prior to going out on the water," said Lt. Luciana Ganley, Sector San Francisco public affairs officer. "Also, all mariners should have blankets and extra food and water aboard your vessel for emergencies."
