PHILADELPHIA — The Coast Guard is searching for three to four missing boaters Friday approximately a half mile off the coast of Brigantine, New Jersey.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay in Philadelphia received initial notification Friday at approximately 5:45 p.m. from the Brigantine Police Dept. of three to four people in the water from a capsized fishing boat.
Coast Guard units involved in the search include:
- A 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crew from Coast Guard Station Atlantic City
- An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City
- An HC-130 Hercules airplane crew from Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina
- The crew of the 87-foot Coast Guard Cutter Shearwater, homeported in Portsmouth, Virginia
The Coast Guard is also working with state and local partner agencies in the search.
