Coast Guard searching for overdue sailor

SAN DIEGO — The Coast Guard has received information of an overdue sailor, after he did not return as expected. Additionally, San Diego Harbor Police has received a missing person report for the same sailor.Missing is Richard Byhre, 76. He is 5-foot 8-inches tall and weighs approximately 210 pounds. Byhre is also hearing impaired.The Coast Guard Joint Harbor Operations Center  a report from Byhre's wife stating that he had not returned from his underway trip.  He was reported to normally only go out on day sail trips and whale watching.His vessel is the 28-foot sailing vessel Princess, home-ported at the Southwestern Yacht Club, on Shelter Island, San Diego.Anyone with information is requested to contact the JHOC at 619-278-7057 or Harbor Police at 619-686-6272.
