Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound to host signing of memorandum of agreement

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound is scheduled to host the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement in support of maritime search and rescue responses and other Coast Guard missions at Coast Guard Station New London, Thursday.

The signing of this MOA will further foster interagency relationships in Sector Long Island Sound through scheduled Coast Guard search and rescue training.

This will lead to a more efficient use of all of our waterborne assets in saving lives and rendering assistance to the people of Long Island Sound, including the south shore of Long Island and Connecticut coastline.

Multiple agencies throughout the area have already signed on and have completed training with Coast Guard small boat station crewmembers allowing for our entities to be more rigorously trained in on-water search and rescue, increasing each partner’s ability to assist the USCG in the furtherance Search and Rescue Mission.

WHAT: The signing of a Memorandum of Agreement for maritime search and rescue responses between Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound and local partner agencies.
