MIAMI — The Coast Guard and local agencies located three bodies Saturday 23 miles southeast of Islamorada while following up on a report from a good Samaritan.
At approximately 10:45 a.m., Coast Guard Sector Key West Command Center personnel received a report of a person in the water from a good Samaritan. Watch standers issued an urgent marine information broadcast, launched an Air Station Miami HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew and a Station Islamorada boatcrew.
A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission aircraft located two additional bodies around 2:28 p.m. Saturday.
Monroe County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are assisting in a search for survivors.
