MEDIA ADVISORY: Coast Guard Cutter Forward to return home after central and western Caribbean patrol

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – The Portsmouth-based Coast Guard Cutter Forward is scheduled to return to its homeport of Portsmouth, Virginia, Sunday following a two-month long patrol in the western and central Caribbean that resulted in the seizure of more than 124 kilograms of cocaine and disruption of more than 3,000 pounds of marijuana.

During their patrol, Forward’s crew coordinated with multiple countries in the central Caribbean including the Bahamas, Honduras, Haiti, Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, to stem the flow of drugs into the country as part of counter narcotics efforts organized by Joint Interagency Task Force South.

Forward also acted as the lead during joint search efforts for a capsized Nicaraguan tour boat in February.
