** MEDIA AVAILABILITY** COAST GUARD COMMUNITY PROCLAMATION CEREMONY

CAPE MAY, N.J. – The Commandant of the Coast Guard, Adm. Paul Zukunft, as well as several elected officials are scheduled to attend the Proclamation Ceremony being held at the Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May, May 8, at 5:30 p.m.

The Proclamation Ceremony is the official declaration of Cape May County as a Coast Guard Community. The County is one of only two communities in the nation to be awarded that designation.

The ceremony also kicks off a weekend of events that include a festival celebrating the designation, which will have food, drinks, live music, ship tours and a trolley tour of the training center on Saturday, and a Mother’s Day brunch with displays and music at the Cape May/Lewes Delaware Ferry Terminal, Sunday.

Media is invited to attend all events and participate in scheduled availabilities where they will be able to conduct interviews with senior-ranking officials in the Coast Guard and elected officials of the State of New Jersey.

Media should arrive no later than 4:30 p.m. to get checked in at the security check point.

WHAT: Coast Guard Festival, on camera interviews. 

WHEN: Saturday, May 9, 1:30 p.m.

WHERE: A media tent will be provided and interviews with the Captain will occur there at the festival.
