Sean Murtagh, sector commander of Coast Guard Sector North Carolina, Sea Tow Crystal Coast and Towboat U.S. Beaufort crews WHAT: Coast Guard to recognize Sea Tow Crystal Coast and Towboat U.S. Beaufort crews for their roles in the rescue of three mariners last December. WHERE:  Coast Guard Sector Field Office Fort Macon, 2301 East Fort Macon Rd., Atlantic Beach, NC, 28512 WHEN: 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2015 WILMINGTON, N.C. — Capt. Sean Murtagh, sector commander of Coast Guard Sector North Carolina, will officially recognize and thank both the captains and crews from Sea Tow and Towboat U.S. for their roles in the Dec. 17, 2014, rescue of three mariners from the grounded fishing boat Shelly near Cape Lookout Shoal. The commercial salvage crews responded to the grounded, 35-foot boat despite deteriorating sea and increasing surf conditions, which resulted in the survival of everyone aboard. Media planning to attend the event must contact Chief Warrant Officer Bobby Connors at 252-247-4524.
