Search ends for man missing near Halona Blowhole

HONOLULU — The Coast Guard's search for an 18-year-old man ended following the location of a body offshore of Halona Blowhole, Tuesday. At 7:07 a.m., a body matching the description of the missing man was recovered by Honolulu Fire Department divers and transported to EMS on shore. The body was turned over to city officials and positive identification is pending.Assets that participated in the search are crews aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Kittiwake, a Response Boat-Medium from Station Honolulu, and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Barbers Point. Honolulu Fire Department searched with divers, a helicopter, jet ski, and rescue boat crews.On-scene assets completed 13 sorties, searched a total of 177 square miles and deployed 2 self-locating datum marker buoys.Watchstanders at the Sector Honolulu Command Center received notification from Honolulu Fire Department at 7:26 p.m., Monday of the situation. The man was reportedly last seen alive Monday evening at 6:20 p.m.
