UPDATE 3: Coast Guard continues response to platform fire in Bayou Sorrel

March 21, 2016

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard, Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinator’s Office, Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office, and ES&H are overseeing the removal of oil left in the remaining tank at the Berry Lake oil production platform near Bayou Sorrel, Monday.

Approximately 39,900 gallons of crude oil is left in the remaining tank. The remaining oil will be transferred to storage tanks on a barge to be transported for disposal.

The oil production platform at Berry Lake caught fire March 15, while in the process of being dismantled. One oil storage tank caught fire, subsequently collapsing, with one storage tank remaining intact.
