UPDATE 7: M/V ISTRA ACE OIL SPILL - RECREATIONAL BOATERS IN SURROUNDING MARINAS

April 2, 2016

LOS ANGELES – The Unified Command continues to monitor the areas affected by the Istra Ace oil spill that occurred on March 13, 2016.

On March 18, 2016, as part of the Unified Command, members of the Coast Guard and California Fish and Wildlife approved the cancellation of all safety and security zones issued by the Coast Guard that had restricted recreational and commercial vessel traffic in the affected area, thereby opening the channel to all vessel traffic including recreational boaters in the affected area.

Recreational boats and marinas in the affected area do not pose a hazardous threat to the environment.  There are no conditions or restrictions that preclude recreational boaters from accessing, using, maintaining and cleaning their boats as a result of the Istra Ace oil spill.

The responsible party would like to inform the public that if you feel that this pollution incident has impacted you, a claims process has been established. To make a claim, please call 1-888-850-8486.
