PHILADELPHIA — The Coast Guard is responding Thursday to a fishing boat that ran aground Wednesday in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey.

Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay is overseeing commercial salvage operations to offload fuel and oil to prevent possible pollution.

"The Coast Guard is working with the owners of the vessel to aggressively reduce the risk of pollution while we wait for the weather to subside to allow us to refloat the vessel," said Lt. Cmdr. Tracy Wirth of Sector Delaware Bay's response department.

The Atlantic City-based 77-foot fishing boat, Capt. Gavin, which ran aground one mile south of Manasquan Inlet, is scheduled to be towed to a dry dock facility in Staten Island, New York.

No injuries, pollution or damage have been reported.
