*** UPDATE *** Coast Guard still searching for missing kayaker on Lake Champlain, Vermont, asking for help from public

BOSTON — The Coast Guard seeks public help in the search for a missing kayaker on Lake Champlain, Vermont Saturday. 

Sean Hawley, a 25-year-old, 180-pound, 6-foot-2-inches man was last seen at 11:00 p.m. Saturday paddling a black, inflatable kayak in the direction of Plattsburg, New York near Colchester Point, Vermont. 

Colchester Police notified Coast Guard Station Burlington at 6:39 p.m. Sunday. Sector Northern New England in Portland, Maine issued a notice to mariners and immediately started a search.

UPDATE: Late this morning, the missing inflatable kayak was found pulled onto the shore of Stave Island, Northwest of Colchester Point. Although Colchester Police throughly searched the island and found his personal effects, they did not find the missing man. Locals suggested that there may be a watercraft missing from the island. If anyone has information about Sean Hawley please call the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Northern New England Command Center at (207)767-0303.

• Coast Guard HC-144a Ocean Sentry Aircraft from Air Station Cape Cod, Massachusetts

• Coast Guard 25-foot Response-boat Small from Station Burlington, Vermont

• New York State Police Helicopter

• Plattsburg Police Department surface boat

• Clinton County Sheriff Department

• South Hero Marine Units 1 & 12 

• Colchester Police
