LAKE CHARLES, La. — The Coast Guard suspended their search for a potentially missing swimmer off Lake Charles beach at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Coast Guard Station Lake Charles boat crew and MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew spent a total of 14 hours searching the lake for a person after two individuals reported losing sight of a man in the water Monday evening.
"We take every case seriously and our efforts to find even one human life is exemplified by the joint agency effort during this search," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Chris Lopez, a Sector Houston-Galveston watchstander. "We encourage people to report things like this, but also for those swimming to let friends or family know if you're going out in the water, especially late in the evening."
The search is suspended pending further information.
