ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 30-year-old man from a 36-foot fishing vessel, 38 nautical miles west of Port Charlotte, Fla., Sunday.
On Sunday evening, watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg received a call via VHF-FM marine radio channel 16 reporting a crewmember, aboard the fishing boat Capt Bob, was experiencing chest pains and required emergency medical attention.
A flight surgeon was briefed and recommended the man be medically evacuated.
An MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter crew from Air Station Clearwater, Fla., arrived on scene, hoisted the man and transported him to Tampa General Hospital.
