A Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew rescues three of four boaters near Laie, Oahu, after their 30-foot boat Makanani capsized while attempting to tow the 20-foot overturned Iwa July 4, 2016.
The fourth man swam to shore successfully. The helicopter crew was diverted from the search for three fishermen from the Iwa off the North Shore of Oahu and resumed the search following the rescue.
Tuesday search efforts included a Coast Guard HC-130 Hercules airplane crew from Air Station Barbers Point, USCGC Ahi (WPB-87364). A Navy SH-60 helicopter crew from Kaneohe Bay relieved the Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew.
