HOUSTON — A Coast Guard aircrew medevaced a 66-year-old woman after she fell down the stairs on a cruise ship at about 8 p.m. Monday, 50 miles east of Galveston.
The master of the cruise ship, Disney Wonder, contacted Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders to report the injury. The ship’s medical staff coordinated with a Coast Guard flight surgeon to determine the best course of action.
The ship, which departed Galveston earlier in the day, was met by an Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew to pickup the woman, who suffered a skull fracture and bleeding.
The woman was delivered to the University of Texas Medical Branch in stable condition at about 11:15 p.m.
