Beirut-based office of the German liner shipping company Hapag-Lloyd was completely destroyed by the deadly blast that occurred on Tuesday in Libanon’s capital.
The company said that all Hapag-Lloyd staff and representatives were safe and sound.

FSL Trust Management Pte., the trustee-manager of First Ship Lease Trust, has executed memoranda of agreement to sell three remaining containerships from its fleet, thus exiting the sector.
The containerships in question include FSL Eminence, FSL Elixir and YM Enhancer.

Boston-headquartered provider of ballast water treatment (BWT) solutions Ecochlor has secured Type Approval from the Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA) for the IMO BWMS Code revised 2016 G8 standards.
The revised guidelines from 2016 are being applied on systems that started their type approval process from October 28, 2018, onwards, and all vessels installing a BWMS from October 28 2020 will need to comply with the code. ... [Read More]

French container shipping company CMA CGM, which has deep roots in Lebanon, has launched an emergency plan to conduct a thorough health and safety assessment of its 261 staff members based in Beirut, following the deadly explosion that wreaked havoc across Lebanon’s capital.

Norway’s expedition cruise operator Hurtigruten temporarily suspended expedition sailings for all of its ships after 36 crew members and several guests tested positive for COVID-19 on board the cruise ship MS Roald Amundsen.
The company said that all 158 crew members on MS Roald Amundsen have now been tested for possible Coronavirus infection.
36 have tested positive for COVID-19, while 122 are confirmed as negative. Nine guests have tested positive.... [Read More]
