BOSTON — The city of Newburyport was re-designated as a “Coast Guard City” Saturday during a ceremony at The Custom House Maritime Museum in Newburyport.  During the ceremony, Rear Admiral Steven D. Poulin, commander of the First Coast Guard District, presented the proclamation to Newburyport’s Mayor Donna D. Holaday, officially re-certifying the city. ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A Coast Guard aircrew rescued two people from a helicopter that crashed near the Dutch Harbor Airport on Unalaska Island Friday afternoon. Watchstanders at the 17th Coast Guard District Command Center received a 406 megahertz personal locator beacon activation from a R22 Robinson helicopter. BOSTON — The Coast Guard assisted four people to safety Wednesday after heavy winds and seas damaged a fishing boat about 40 miles southeast of Portland, Maine. A fisherman aboard the Gracelyn Jane sent a distress hail to Coast Guard Sector Northern New England watchstanders Tuesday evening and reported their fishing boat was disabled with four people aboard. SAN FRANCISCO — The Coast Guard rescued two kayakers from the water Sunday near Rodeo Beach. A motorist parked at Point Bonita contacted Coast Guard Sector San Francisco Command Center watchstanders at approximately 3:15 p.m., reporting that two kayakers were caught in a current and were being pulled out to sea. Watchstanders dispatched a crew aboard a 47-foot Motor Lifeboat from Coast Guard Station Golden Gate, who arrived on scene at approximately 4:00 p.m., and found the kayakers in the water trying to swim their kayak back to shore.... An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew, from Coast Guard Sector Columbia River in Warrenton, Ore., hoists an injured crew member from the 618-foot cargo vessel Global Saikai over 170 miles offshore from the Columbia River, Nov. 26, 2016. JUNEAU, Alaska — A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew medevaced an injured mariner off the cargo vessel Tianjin Pioneer approximately 97 miles north of Adak, Alaska, Saturday.       The Jayhawk crew hoisted the 21-year-old man and transported him to awaiting emergency medical personnel in Adak.
