SAN DIEGO — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 56-year-old man from a cruise ship approximately 50 miles southwest of San Diego, Sunday.
At approximately 1 p.m., Sunday, the crew of the cruise ship Carnival Imagination requested assistance from Coast Guard Sector San Diego for a passenger who was reported to have had a heart attack.
A Sector San Diego MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew immediately launched, arrived on scene and safely hoisted the man and a nurse from the cruise ship.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., he was transported to awaiting EMS and transferred for further treatment.
His condition is unknown.
