Coast Guard, agency partners respond to sunken vessel in Seattle

Incident Management Division personnel from Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound are monitoring the situation after making contact with the vessel owner, who contacted their insurance and hired Global Diving and Salvage to plug vents and remove fuel.

SEATTLE — Coast Guard, Seattle Fire Department, Seattle Police Harbor Patrol and Washington State Department of Ecology crews responded to a 60-foot pleasure craft that sunk at Fisherman's Terminal in Seattle, Saturday.

Incident Management Division personnel from Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound are monitoring the situation after making contact with the vessel owner, who contacted their insurance and hired Global Diving and Salvage to plug vents and remove fuel.

Watchstanders at Sector Puget Sound were notified at 7:38 a.m. by Seattle Fire Department responders, who also notified Ecology personnel.

Boom and absorbent pads were deployed by first responders to contain and mitigate pollution.

The vessel was reported with a potential of up to 400 gallons of diesel aboard.
