UPDATE, PHOTOS: Coast Guard searching for 2 adults, 1 child in Lake Superior

SAULT STE MARIE, Michigan — U.S. and Canadian Coast Guard crews along with state and local agencies are continuing the search for two adults and one child who went missing Saturday night in the vicinity of the Keweenaw Peninsula in Lake Superior.

One of the three missing has been identified as Keith Karvonen. The names of the second adult and child are not being released.

Karvonen is the owner of a 14-foot boat, pictured above, that the group is expected to be aboard.

Search efforts have totaled approximately 20 hours and 1,500 square miles utilizing crews from local agencies, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City, Coast Guard Air Station Detroit, Coast Guard Station Marquette, Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and the Canadian Coast Guard. An aircrew from Air Station Cape Cod, Massachusetts, is scheduled to conduct night searches later tonight and into tomorrow morning.
