WILMINGTON, N.C.— The Coast Guard oversaw the refloating of a barge in Avon Friday.
The barge broke free from its mooring in Pamlico Sound during Hurricane Matthew, October 9, 2016, and ran aground in Avon.
The Coast Guard is working with partner agencies and salvage companies to refloat a second barge that remains grounded in the vicinity of Weakfish Drive in Avon.
