NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard rescued two people from a boat taking on water near Lafitte, Louisiana, Thursday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans were notified by Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office of a boat taking on water at 6:30 p.m. Watchstanders directed an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans to the location of the vessel in distress.... HONOLULU — The Coast Guard and the Kauai Fire Department are searching for a missing male swimmer near Queen's Bath, in Princeville, Kauai, Thursday. Missing is 28-year-old Mykola Grebeniuk. Grebeniuk was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and green shorts. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and an HC-130 Hercules aircrew from Air Station Barbers Point are currently searching and the crew of USCGC Galveston Island is currently en route. NEW YORK - Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City rescued seven mariners aboard a 76-foot fishing vessel after it ran aground near East Rockaway Inlet, today. After running aground around 2 A.M., crewmembers aboard the Carolina Queen III were removed from their vessel and brought safely ashore by an HH-65 Dolphin Helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City. NEW YORK - Coast Guard Station Jones Beach crewmembers swam to shore after their rescue boat capsized in rough waters near East Rockaway Inlet, today.At approximately 2 A.M., Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound Command Center received an urgent distress call from the 76-foot scallop fishing vessel Carolina Queen III, that had been taking on water. NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard is overseeing the clean up of approximately 900 gallons of waste lube-oil that discharged into the 17th Street Canal near Metairie, Louisiana, Wednesday. The Coast Guard received notification of an unknown substance later identified as waste lube oil in the 17th Street Canal, which leads to Lake Pontchartrain, at 10:22 a.m., Tuesday.
