South Korea has started building a small liquefied natural gas bunkering vessel as part of a project backed by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries. A steel-cutting ceremony to mark the construction of the 500 cubic meter capacity LNG bunkering barge for coastal use was held on May 6, the ministry said in a statement. German manufacturer of propulsion systems Schottel has secured a deal to deliver propulsion equipment for six new live fish carriers being built by Turkish shipyard Sefine. The vessels feature Salt Ship design and are being built for DESS Aquaculture Shipping AS in Grimstad, Norway. The latest one to be delivered is Aqua Skilsøy, the third one from the batch. All six live fish carriers, each with a live fish hold capacity of 3,900 m³, will be assigned to long-term contracts for Mowi ASA. ... [Read More]

Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY) has completed a scrubber retrofit project in a record 29 days, the shipyard said. Shipowners have been investing heavily in the installation of scrubbers on their ships as a way of meeting the IMO 2020 sulphur cap that entered into force on January 1, 2020.
